OUR WALKING.

Living within an hour of the Lake District, has meant that the bias of our walking, has leaned towards this most beautiful part of our lovely country. Over the years, we have climbed the majority of the districts hills. We are not hill baggers by nature, but our Wainwright guides are highlighted with the hills we have climbed. We have also walked the hills of Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. We did make a conscious effort to climb the highest mountains of the four countries of the British Isles, Carrauntuohill in Ireland being the completion of that aim as recently as 1997.

The cross on the summit of Carrauntuahill, Irelands highest mountain at 1039 meters, (3414 feet ), was erected by local people. It was originally lit by electrical power, provided by a wind generator. This has now gone the way of most mountain top embellishments, and has vanished. Only the bare steel cross remains.
